Well September has ben an interesting month if for learning and getting re-aquainted with that old core of learning from my early days I touched in my last ranty post. Still in O-town and ma have a few things line up for October, otherwise I have my own progress to attend to.  Here are some scans of sketches and such, finished stuff to follow soon.

Setting up for the long haul

It has truly been an interesting summer, it has been very freeing to throw myself back into my work on my schedule. I am being productive in different ways than I imagined I would be. My sleep schedule has turned into a really nocturnal kind of setup. I'm most productive when it gets dark, while during the day I do work but it's more spread out.

A recent post on Muddy Colors have answered some nagging thoughts that have kept me wondering for a while. About the nature of working persistently and when to expect results from your efforts. This blog started back in 2007 I, around the time I started attending a visual art program at IRSC in Fort Pierce. Lucky enough to get a scholarship (dues an awesome mentor and friend) despite not having my papers due to a screwed up and botched application. Go forward to 2011 I was graduating from RCAD with a BFA in illustration. In that period of five years I learned more and worked harder than I could have imagined, dealt with a lot of difficulties as well. I took the leap and I was very fortunate to meet people who gave me a shot, they said they saw my drive and desire.

I've been broke, ignored, grieved( I lost my mother to cancer halfway of my last year at Ringling) and out right betrayed during and since graduating. Yet I have kept drawing and though often cursing it and seeming lack of progress(especially professionally) I still love art and the things I learn from it, how I can speak with it. Doubt has rattled me especially this last year as I have been working hard at jobs just to get by and felt myself drifting as far as my chances and potential professionally. Then I read that post and things clicked, I am in this for the long haul. It's true nothing happens overnight, got some art to make.

In any case scans of some recent work.

A fairly odd summer is nearly over

Well definitely more than the halfway point in this year and it's been about a year since I moved to Orlando. Overall it's been another year of slowly building things with moments of frustration and elation throughout it. I was working at a law firm as an administrative assistant, not a position I ever imagined having but it was an experience that taught me a bit about another part of life I didn't usually think about.

In any case I am now back to full time art life. It's the one thing that allows me to be who I really am, definitely learned I am not a fit for the corporate life at all. Here are some recent sketches and such, finally putting more time into my projects and a few commissions lately. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of this year brings.

Surprise, surprise...surprise.

Well I'm trying to get back into the habit of frequently scanning and updating this blog o mine. Funny to think it's been almost 8 years or so since I started this thing or rather funny to think how long I've been blogging and posting my sketches and such. Lately many of the same things have been on my mind concerning creating art and such. I 've heard a whole bunch of suggestions, some invited and quite a few uninvited ones. Yet I have to stay true to myself honestly, I can and no longer will apologize for that. Any how on to some recent recent sketches.

My recent work and thinking.

One thing that has stayed consistent has been my daily sketching since I got serious about this art life. Funny how it still so much to learn and more yet my world of stories and ideas keep expanding. At times I look back at what I've done I wonder if I'm getting better, then other time I think I am. Yet it's still a thrill to sit in front of a blank page every morning before I head out and see what comes out, either something new or a continuation of one of my stories which weave through my noggin. Any how on to some sketches.
